Nobody has mentioned this well, which appears to be somewhat of a sleeper. Although Nelson/Pryme have drilled wells in this field about 5-6 miles to the NE, it will be interesting to see what Anadarko can do!
Dominique No. 1, Serial No. 243229. This well is right on the St. Landry/Avoyelles line and is most certainly a unit well for the AUS C RB SUA, North Bayou Jack Field.
TD is shown as 23,200' and it is currently drilling at 14,178' on 6/27.
This is a really important well for N. Bayou Jack and Moncrief fields, including acreage in NE St. Landry, SW Avoyelles and on into Pointe Coupee.
My family owns land in the immediate vicinity, so I'm praying this is a barn-burner!

I know about as much as the average Joe on this board and clueless about the operator's expectations. The only thing I'm looking at is the total depth to see how close they are to the end of the line and completion.
Permitted Total Depth 23,200; Permitted True Vertical Depth 16500; that means a horizontal run of 6,700. That seems like a long horizontal and I translate that into a pretty serious effort on their part. So if you look at the reported depth in this 8/8/2011 report (17, 989), they've gone horizontal for 1,489 (17,989 - 16,500). In total linear feet, they're about 78% of the way home (17,989/23,200). Last week's report (8/1/2011) had them at a Measured Depth of 16,570 with these remarks: "SLIDE, DRLD, & MWD SURVEY T/ 16570'; TSTD BOPS 7/26/11;" In simplistic terms, that means total progress in 1 week of 1,419 (203 ft/day), leaving them with 5,211 to go. Assuming this rate is constant, it's looking like they'll get to permitted depth of 23,200 on September 3. Keep in mind these numbers are pie in the sky and don't consider any of that geo stuff that goes on 3 miles down, but I find it's better than doing crossword puzzles!
Hey, Old Scout, when did you matriculate for the Ole War Skule? I did in 1963.
Chip
I saw my first LSU game in '59. I actually went to college out of state. Our English department never taught us what matriculate meant. But as Muhammad Ali once said, "If it's good, then I'm it".
Your 10 years ahead of me....
I saw my first game in 1952 as a Boy Scout usher. I started at LSU in 1958, graduated in 1963. So I was there for the first modern day National Football Championship. Those were the days.

ROTATE & SLIDE DRLG; TSTD BOPS 8/11/11
I understand the first part, but what does TSTD BOPS indicate?
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
