Will,
I'm not more optimistic. Nelson/Pryme and Anadarko have screwed up their wells. They are using drilling methods and technology that is from shale drilling and is not compatible Chalk drilling. The only one I have any faith in at the present time is Atinum. They seem to know what they are doing.
If its true that Anadarko has backed off of leasing then they not only have screwed up the wells they are drilling but have screwed up the development on the play in general. That's what I've been concerned about since they announced they were drilling these long laterals. If you loose mud into the Chalk then it will be plugged and if you over produce the formation it will collapse and plug the well. The Chalk is like a "beautiful woman" if you don't treat her right she's not going to dance with you.
Joe, I guess you don't buy the end of year budget explaination for the halt in leasing.
Skip, i just found out that TAGCO are group of Landmen who sign up your land then broker it. So stay away from those guys make sure your Lease says Anadarco,or on of the compaines that are drilling> here is my trac-
skip thanks. Its in avoyelles parish . I have three companies working on a proposal. I gave them just one trac to work on 20 acres being the W/2 of the NE/4 of section 38, T1S-R4E. TAGCO Inc. as Lessee.
You might ask them if they are this TAGCO. Whether they are or not, I suspect they are a "land company". Many operators use one or more land companies in order to get the targeted leasehold acquired in the allotted time. If they are leasing for an operator they may or may not admit it depending on instructions from their client. If you really want to get the full picture regarding leasing in your parish, go to the courthouse and look through the Day Book maintained by most Clerks of Court. You may have to look back some days or even weeks as lessees tend to record their leases in batches. Make note of where the leases are being taken and make a copy of a recent lease by each of the companies filing.

does any of the austin chalk cover east or west feliciana.
Thomas,
Yes, you are just North of the shelf. The Ewell Bickham almost blew-out in Chalk. LL&E was sure they could go back to to AC after drilling to TUSC and make a well. I talked to the Engineer on site that was trying to bring the well in Chalk and he even showed me a sample of the oil they were swabbing up. As it turned out that well was ruined in AC because they had pumped so much mud into the formation when drilling it that it was plugged. That was one of the wells that there was a convoy of mud truck supplying the rig with pre-mix mud while they were drilling in Chalk. Just be patient you are in the best of positions because you have Austin Chalk, Eagle Ford and TMS and you are un-leased.
Skip what does you mean when u Said,"It's probably okay to lease through TAGCO but I'd ask Jerry whetherTACGO or Anadarko will the lessee on the lease,'?

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
