It will be interesting to see if they  get a lease of any sort.  There was one for the Mississippi from just above St. Francisville down toward Baton Rouge.  And now is the time it should expire, so my guess is they are trying to drum a some more lease money.  Our lease expired in July last year.  Not a peep out of anybody but with the price of petroleum at or below $50 all is quite.  So I do not expect anything will come of it.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
