This march of Petro-Chem actually started in East Texas and hit first in Louisiana in North Caddo Parish very near Hosston. They have methodically moved eastward and will soon spud this well. As I understand, they are still following some good potential in the Pettit. Some areas may rival the CV horizontals in production.
NABORS COMP & PROD RIG #721 spud the Fincher 28H #1 8/30/13.
Since 8/21/13 Petro-Chem has permitted 3 wells in Claiborne Parish. 2 in 13-23N-7W , 1 in 24-23N-7W all at 10,350 '. #246882 #246935 #246968. Not sure what formation this would be.
246882 - unitized Haynesville Reservoir C
246935 - unitized Upper Haynesville Reservoir C
246968 - the permit is not entered in the database yet but it is a non-unitized Haynesville
It's my understanding that the Fincher 28H #1 is at TVD of 6,555 and a MD of around 7,000 and currently drilling to a MD of 10,964 with everything on schedule. Hope it's a great well.
Bill, the weekly rig report as of last Friday had the NABORS COMP & PROD RIG #721 at 5800' through 18 days of drilling. That squares pretty closely with your understanding. The rig should have reached the kick off point and started building the curve by now.
I hope I am very wrong but, after talking with a geologist very familiar with the petite, consensus between a few knowledgeable others is that the porosity may not be very good in the area of this well. If this holds true then PC will have to decide if the cost of a long lateral will overcome the porosity issues. As I understand they were just into the lateral as of Monday.
Judy, The petit is very widespread in N. La and south Arkansas. I would say fairly widespread, but perhaps hit or miss. Good long lived formation, I would say.
No show of oil and gas. Plugging to commence shortly.
Sorry to hear it. Thanks for the report, Bill.
It looks like Petro-Chem is getting ready to have another go at a horizontal in the Pettit. This well, the LBCH 33 H #1 (serial #247707), will be about a mile southeast of the Fincher 28 H #1, and is scheduled to be spudded 7/5/2014 by Energy Drilling Rig #1. Let's hope it is more successful than the Fincher.

The most recent estimated spud date for the LBCH 33 H #1 is today, 7/12/14.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
