Does anyone know anything about section 001 22n 06w. My family owns property there but hasn't done anything with it for years.

Hi...I am the "Newbie from California"...does any one have any land near Sect 32 T23N R5W? I recently got an offer from Pinebelt. Can anyone let me know how this area is doing? My offer is for $6000.00 with a $300 dollor bonus/acre and 1/5 royalty. I would love to get some info....I'm not too educated on this oil and gas lease stuff :)

wpt9452,

I guess I put you on back burner and forgot to try and look you up when I was down there recently. Your mention of iron ore on your property interests me. I would like to know more about it. You an reach me at (480) 993-8048 or by e-mail at calais0929@aol.com if you wish.

It is true that the Haynesville Formation was named from Haynesville, La. where it was discovered. The Haynesville Formation consists primarily of interbedded layers of sandstone and shale. However, I do not anticipate gas production from the shale members in the Haynesville area to be productive. The Haynesville Sand does produce a considerable amount of both oil and gas all along the stateline trend and further development is ongoing in the area. Geologic depositional environment during Haynesville time was not conducive to accumulation and entrapment of natural gas..

I still remember back in the early 60's a man came to my family and talked about leasing our land for iron ore. It's quite easy to see all the red rocks on the unpaved roads. Then he went back to Shreveport and had a heart attack and we heard no more. I am doomed to live a poor life.

The Haynesville Shale or Bossier Shale (What's the difference?) does exist in Claiborne Parish. It's just a matter of time before it is tested. It has been drilled through and ignored for years. But the Shale is there and I am sure in some places it will be productive..

I just checked and it appears that that well was just permitted on 12-30-09 with PetroChem as the operator. Serial No. 240623, T. D. Meadows Est. 13, proposed depth 11,200.

I'm interested in whether CSC started drilling the Smackover Well in the Lisbon Field??

It amazes me, I leased my two acres in South Caddo for $275 an acre because I thought all the excitement was in "Haynesville" hence the "Haynesville Shale, which I heard was named so because the first well was discovered in Haynesville. How can that be when the shale does not exist in or around the town of Haynesville? If they had called it the Caddo Shale I would have been asking a lot more money for my little 2 acres. My question is why did they call it Haynesville Shale.

I have been away from this site for quite a while and just wanted to check back in. Chesapeake has finished a well in my section in South Caddo where I live on 2 acres. They finally released info on the well and it is pretty good I think, 17,904mcfd. The serial number is 239731.
Aubrey, I apologize for not replying sooner but with GM closing our plant here in Shreveport and my wife having to go back to Russia twice in the last 4 months due to her mother's health, I have been busy. The 2 wells I was speaking about in Oaks Field in Claiborne Parish are serial # 147085 and #204882. One was a pretty good well and the other only had gas so they abandoned it. I guess gas was too cheap to finish that well. I am trying to stay positive on our property in Claiborne Parish but I don't know what else they could do in our section. If Aubrey or someone else could look at the two wells I mentioned and give me any idea if something good could come from these wells I would appreciate it. Again, sorry for not posting for such a long time and good luck to all of us in Claiborne Parish. Bill
