Where can I go to find out how someone else is claiming my land?

I don't know anything about your situation, so take this with a grain of salt.... 

1.  Are you the only owner of the land?  If not, speak with the other owners, and see what they know about how you acquired your land.  If you have joint ownership with other relatives, maybe they can help you understand your claim to the land, and why someone else is making a claim to it.

2.  Search the records at the courthouse for the appropriate deeds, successions, etc. that show how you came to acquire your land.  The staff at the courthouse can help you get started.

3.  Why do you think someone else is making a claim to your land?

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
