Chesapeake Energy is probably the most active in this area with a few others in the game also. The offers are going from $16,000.00 to around $20,000.00 per acre with a 25% royalty figure. There are also smaller companies leasing for possibly more money but these are usually no more than a standard lease with no protections or provisions and they usually get sold to a larger company. what about Petrohawk & Encana?

I am out of state also. And wonder about Encana being in that area. Petrohawk is huge and hope they are there too. ANYONE with any information? It would be appreciated. Thank you.

Encana is in this area. They leased some people at Kickapoo Corner, south of Stonewall, about a month ago.

I recall reading that as well as hearing from a friend that Encana had leased several large tracts before the play was announced. El paso and Winchester have a lot of wells there so probably HBP land .

Encana is in this area and leased a group at Kickapoo Corner about a month ago. I haven't heard of Petrohawk in the area except for the lease they have with DeSoto Parish and it was done at the Mineral Board in Baton Rouge on a sealed bid.

I am in 15n, 14w, Stonewall. Petrohawk and XTO both have made lease offers to several in my area so both companies, along with Chesapeake, are still trying for leases in this part of the parish. All three companies mentioned have all made offers in excess of $18,000 per acre. I have not heard that Encana has expressed any interest though, as far as our area is concerned.
