My family has inherited land that with a lease that is at least 13 years old.  I understand that the lease may be voided  IF there was no production for a period of at least 90 days (and there was no action to fix broken pumping equipment).  How can a landowner determine whether or not there was lack of production  of minerals for 90 or more days regarding this tract of land?   Is there a website or state agency that can help the landowner or is best to hire a landman/Oil & Gas lawyer to do this research?  Thank you.

David,
Your first look should be at www.sonris.com. This is the online database of wells in Louisiana. However, sonris has caveats all over it that the data may not be used for legal purposes. If you want production data that are certified by the state, and usable for legal purposes, you can contact the Louisiana Office of Conservation. If you tell them what well you are interested in, and all the necessary info, they will send you certified data at the cost of $1.25 per page. That would be your cheapest first step, before hiring anyone. You can do this by yourself.

If you need help in navigating sonris, holler back, and I'll help you.
Outstanding. Thank you for the information! The site appears to be "down" right now- will check it later for sure.
To make it easy for you... When you get to sonris.com, you will see, on the left-hand side something called "Database Access." Click on Sonris Lite. In the box called "Well Information," choose the option called "Wells by Section, Township, and Range." Just enter in your S-T-R, and you can scroll down to see monthly production going all the way back. Good luck.
