I was wondering if anyone had any information about drilling activities planned for Section 15 - Township 12N - Range 13W in Mansfield, LA (Desoto Parish). This land is located along Binning Road, which was formerly known as Williams Road. We believe that most landowners signed with Chesapeake. There was a road staked off and cleared, and then...nothing. There has been a lot of constant, extremely loud noise at the back of our property going on for a good while now. The back of our property is heavily wooded and impossible to walk through. We have heard rumors that the "well" has been "fracked", but it would be great to get some factual information rather than rumors. I'm a "Newbie" on this site so please accept my apologies for any mistakes I may have made in this post. Thank you!

JC,
According to sonris (www.sonris.com), the well that will drain 15-12-13 is located in section 22. It is named "Hughes 15-12-13" and is a Chesapeake well. The surface location is 262 feet from the north line and 2031 feet from the east line of sec 22. Drilling began on Dec. 1, 2010, and total depth was reached at the end of that month. Sonris does not show that the well has been completed yet. Sometimes there can be a long pause between the end of drilling and fracing/completions.
JC, attached is a mp that shows the surface location and lateral for the well described in Henry's post (Ser #242374). Note that the surface location is wouthwest of Hwy 175.

Les B, thank you so much for helping out yet another "Newbie" to these discussions. I really appreciate the link to the map too!

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
