JJ, I expect that unit to be amended at some point.  They will file a Designation of Unit which will (typically) be much larger.  They filed today to change the name of Matthews 1H (405-30480) to Lout 1HR and cancelled the permit for Lout 1H (405-30486) so changes (to the unit) are coming, most likely.

Suzanne, If I understand correctly they will take the % that the 462' section is to the whole producing interval and that portion (%) of production would be allocated to the Weeks Unit and the rest would be allocated to the Brown Unit.  If that is not right someone can correct me.

Lout No. 1 is 161 acres?  Is it possible to get lease pools under 640 acres?  I've seen wording for 330' lease line spacing and 40 acre units, so is this just 4 -40 acre units?  At first I thought it might be a salt water disposal but it states gas well.  Also is there a place to look up SWD permits?  The RRC link seems to be broke.  I tried posting this as a new discussion but that seems to be broke too.  Thanks for any info!

My understanding of this is there is a 462 ft. section of the brown well that will be fractured under the Weeks unit so a "reasonable" portion of the sales will be paid to the Weeks unit owners.  I am not sure how they calculate the "reasonable" amount.  Both of these wells are physically on my property.  They are in the process of fracing the Brown-Weeks unit at this time by CUDD.  The Weeks well has been in production since July.  Anyone else have any information on this?

What is going on with the Brown-Weeks unit?  Are they merging 2 units?  What is the meaning of ALLOC? Almost 1300 Acres?  Does anyone have any explanation?

I agree, dbob.  I look at HA units every day and I have to say that 6-700 acre units are much more the "norm" rather than over-sized units.

I've seen one 3000+ acre unit, although it had one mineral owner, and a significant continuous drilling provision.  I think beyond the 1000+ acre size, you have to have some type of agreement among the mineral owners.

The best way to look at it is that there will be even more gas produced than might be expected from a 640 ac. unit because the trend now is longer laterals.  There may only be one well with some operators but the ones who are "all in" on NG are going to drill. There are already several units in Nac. which are being drilled up by EOG and Exco (Cameron Minerals Unit will have 9 wells shortly and ACLCO will have six... all to be completed and turned to sales at the same time... as a well spacing trial).  I expect to see multiple wells from XTO and EnCana who have both already drilled several 2nd unit wells.  Plus... they will be drilling both HA and BO in our part of the world so that is X2. 

Just so you feel better about it... there is a limit to how much acreage they can add for lateral length.  If I can find the chart (again) in the rules, I will post it.

So for longer laterals the unit can be oversized, mineral owner's portion deluted, and more acreage held by production with less wells? Very few units have a second well, so 900 acres can be HBP? Why stop at 900 acres, why not make a 10,000 or 20,000 acre unit and less leases would expire?
