Looking for information regarding leasing inquiry in SH Roberts and Gainer from Devon.  Can't find any recorded activity in this area at the TXRRC.

There is 150 acres in NW corner of Shelby that NFR Energy, LLC wants to lease.

Devon's Whitton 1H (9.5) miles NW of Center, TX is nearing completion. this well is about 10 to 11 miles SE of the 150 acres which is near Rusk County and next to Panola County.
Interesting. I own minerals in the Storey Survey (A-630) that are currently under lease to NFR.
How close is the Storey Survey to the Squire Humphries Survey A-220 in NW Shelby?

How close is the Storey Survey to any production in Rusk, Panola or Shelby?

Thanks,

Mills McCawley
The Story Survey and The Humphreys Survey (A-280) are contiguous.
This was, I suppose, common in "olden days". I feel certain that they do not do those types of leases now. Moreover, these units have to be explained at times as many do not understand them. I am in that situation too. It has not created a problem for us yet. Marg
I have a couple of spots of minerals up in them-thar parts & only got called once on each. The "offerors" basically said "if anybody ELSE calls you about leasing, call us." Wheee - BUT, the Devon: Whitton & Adams + the CHK: Smith wells will make / break this part of the county.
thank you all for the replys and info. I was never aware that we had any interest in Shelby, thought my family had sold it all many years back and just kept Panola. When the NW corner came up I noticed that it appeared all the interest was over near the river in the East and wondered what was going on. Guess we'll all see, one way or the other.
john, Devon filed several leases last Friday, April 16 on minerals in this area. A couple were on minerals in S.H. Richards (A-606). This survey is adjacent to Gainer (A-257). I am assuming you meant S.H. Richards rather than S.H. Roberts. Devon also filed some other leases on minerals just to the NW of A-606. These minerals are in J.P. Wood (A-787) and J.T. Echals (A-195). The Wood and Echals surveys are only 2-2.5 miles south of downtown Timpson.
I have land in SH Richards A-606. Do you have any more info on what Devon has applied for?
Larry Edwards
Larry, I am not aware that they have applied for anything but I know that they have recently leased some minerals in this survey.
I also have land in both those surveys. ephraim story and squire humphries about 250 mineral acres or 400 surface. NFR or nabors has most all of that northwest shelby leased up so I wouldn't expect to see much leasing going on up there. once the drilling starts and Once the wells start coming in i suspect filling in the unleased folks would be a little more important. They began leasing that whole area about a year and a half before the news of the shale find became public. Guess they had the news before us lol. just cant see giving mine away for 150/ acre and 1/5 royalty though or i would be leased to nfr too.
I actually bought land in Story with minerals that were already under lease to Ranger Investments in Longview. Ranger conveyed its leasehold to NFR. I never had the opportunity to say yea or nay to a lease but was fully aware of the lease at the time of purchase. I'm still happy to own these minerals even though you might think they were given away.
