Click on "Township Grid w/ Sections" under "Class Materials" on the SONRIS Help Center group page. Print out a master copy for your files and make one or more copies to start tracking HA (Haynesville) Drilling & Production Units and Wells. Notice the serpentine pattern of the section numbering in a township grid. If your section is 15, 16, 21 or 22, you may choose to use only the grid with your township. If your section falls outside of those central sections, you should also track the immediately adjoining township also with particular emphasis to those sections within 4 miles (4 section squares). If your section falls in a township corner such as 5,6,7 or 1,2,12 you should include the two adjacent townships. In the first example, that would be the township to the immediate north and the one to the west.

The basic information you should track is HA (Haynesville Drilling & Production Units and HA wells. My personal means to indicate development activity is to shade each section square with a highlighter (no, sesport, it is not pink, it is yellow but suit yourself, LOL). In the top half of the section square, I write the name of the operator holding the unit order. In the lower half of the section square, I write the operator, name and serial number of any existing HA well. In order to track D&P units, use the steps in our first exercise (Basic Well Search By Section - Township - Range) to pull up all the wells in your township. In each section, click on the Field Code in colored text and make note of the one or more fields represented by all the sections in your township. Also note the HA depth wells and record the operator, name and serial number. Once you know the field or fields associated with your township sections, go to the LOC public hearing schedule ( http://dnr.louisiana.gov/CONS/CONSEREN/hearings/pubhearings2009.htm ). Notice that across the top of this search page are the applications by month/year. The first HA D&P Unit was authorized Jan. 9, 2007. Many of the early applications used the abbreviation, JUR instead of HA. Starting in Jan. '07, scroll through and open the apps for the fields represented in your township(s). You will have to go to the plats included with each application to see which units/sections are included.
