Houston firm reports find in Tuscaloosa Marine Shale

Houston-based Indigo Minerals announced today that it has struck pay dirt in one of the newest stretches of shale oil and gas in Louisiana to start drawing industry attention.

In a statement through its Louisiana subsidiary, Indigo II Louisiana Operating, the company said its first horizontal well in the Louisiana Eagle Ford Shale, also known as the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, resulted in oil and liquid natural gas finds. The 2.7 million-acre play spans central and southeast Louisiana and a section of southwest Mississippi.

The Indigo well, in Rapides Parish, flowed at a rate of about 543 barrels of oil per day during recent testing. To put that into perspective, the BP oil well that blew out in the Gulf of Mexico last April flowed at rate of 53,000 barrels per day before being capped in July, according to final estimates.

Anyone have any info on the Indigo Wildcat serial #242407.  On SONRIS it says waiting on completion.  I bet it plays into this some way.  Indigo and MTC are the same so something must be up.

I have leased land in Union Parish and believe they are looking for Oil more than Gas, there is both there.  After the huge Shale Play's in Louisiana and the new fracting fluids and "new" drilling tech. I believe Oil is being sought after.  Check out the Monroe Uplift formation. I am no expert just a landowner learning and trying to learn what's up.

If the Eagle Ford is below the Austin Chalk,  seems that would make it too deep to drill.  I really don't care what formation I have on my property,  I think they all have oil and can be productive when drilled properly and by the right people.  The first step is to get a good lease.

Eagle Ford in n.w. Rapides?

word from man who had the last closed well near hot wells, the companies are actually looking for the EAGLE FORD SHALE.

eagle ford could easily extend into n.w. rapides parish.

Blackjack.  you are correct.  I noticed there are now 4 members to your group Rapides parish.  The other two have not  commented yet.  Bet they will soon.  Most people today have that self-centered greed and only care about their own back yard, or should I say their own back pocket.  The 'HAVES" think they are the only ones that are ever gonin to have and the "HAVE-NOTS" will never have.  In other words they aren't willing to help their fellow man even if it is with free advice that cost them nothing.  They fear competition because it might take away from what they HAVE.  Here is a bit of free advice,  your friends are right,  don't sign "NUTHIN".  It's much too early and the offers will go up.

lrb2, i'm a rookie.  that is why i'm on the board.   but, i'm guessing that  lots of people are not doing this kind of research.  i can tell by how few are posting and asking questions.  and yet, i know of many along bayou rapides have "suposedly" signed.  my friends tell me to just sit on my hands and DON'T SIGN NUTHIN'.

have you heard of any other companies trying to lease anywhere close to this area?  What we need is competition to drive the price up.  There has to be other e/p companies that know what Indigo knows about this new play.  Knowledge equals money.  What we need to find out is what that knowledge is?

the link shows that Indigo Minerals already had all of Roy O. Martin ...that's a lot, and i'm sure they have a sweet deal going.  i argree they are trying to flip it.
