For a 3 acre pad, 1000ft of road and pipeline all located in the middle of our pine plantation, first offer without any negotiation was 38K. What are your thoughts? We have negotiation room on the pipeline and road.

Hall Summit,
I was just reading your response to "Pipeline contracts..." How many acres do you own that you use for harvesting? My husband owns 78 acres in DeSoto, 56 of which has timber on it. We also own a couple of acres in Shreveport and are in the process of purchasing 4.5 acres in Waskom. We were wanting to have all of the timber harvested. We are about ready to start contacting timber companies. We would like to have the same company harvest all three properties. Do you know if timber companies can go across state lines? We are totally new to this, so we really aren't sure what to expect. Do you have any companies that you would recomend? Also, do you have any idea what timber is going for these days? All in all, we should have about 60 acres of timber, but I have no idea how old the trees are. Thanks in advance for your help. =)
