What is the role of the landman?

My family and I asked a highly recommended landman to
represent us in obtaining a release from the company we
originally signed with.

The lease has run out and we want to get another company
involved.

So far the landman we are working with keeps making
promises to us, but so far we have no results.

We are anxious to move on. Any suggestions as to what
we do, since we do not have the release.

My family has been offered $5000 per acre to lease our land in Sections 33 and 32 in DeSoto Parish.

Is this a good offer?

I need guidance.

Signing Bonus

My family has leased our property in DeSoto Parish to Bridas Energy and we have

property to another energy company, even though Bridas

holds the current… Continue

Signing Bonus Offer

I have mineral rights in DeSoto Parish in Sections 32 and 33,
13N, 15W.

I was offered a $500 bonus for each acre and 25% royalty.

Is this considered a good offer?

Most bonus payments refer to a 5 year lease. So when you hear $2000 per acre, that's for 5 years so it amounts to $400 per acre per year.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
