I am rather hard to reach by phone - currently in California for a wedding.  You might do better posting a question on this site.  I'll try to respond appropriately as time permits.  If something comes up that needs a phone call, we can do that.  I am not on this site consistently but more time permitting.  I still practice law so I can't really offer free advice all day long.  I was moved to try to help Susan last week because she seemed totally unequipped to know how to lease.

Hi Keb,
I would suggest that you talk to attorney Randall Davidson at (318) 424-4342. Even if you handle all of the negotiations yourself you want a good attorney to make sure that your document says what the gas company states it says. Mr. Davidson is rated AV in oil and gas, which is the highest rating that an attorney can receive. Kassi is also using him.
I see that you are in Texas, but Louisiana law is quite different, make sure that you get someone who practices law in Louisiana even if it is not Mr. Davidson.
Good Luck

keb,

The Chesapeake landman that is handling my lease is in Lafayette. He is with Paramount Energy, 337-233-2929. You may have to contact Chesapeake first and see if you will be assigned to Paramount or Red River Leasing.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
