Fish Fry Benefit tomorrow (June 26th) to help Odie Harris, 12 year old boy facing Cancer.

A fish fry fundraiser for 12-year-old Odie Harris will take place Saturday at the Four Way Country Store in Haughton.
Harris, a student at Curtis Elementary, was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer earlier this month.

Gaye Myers, a close friend of the Harris family, says that the cancer has completely compromised his liver and has spread to his lungs.

The fundraiser will begin at 3 p.m. and will have a dunk tank, a raffle for various items and a fishplate meal. Myers said there is no time limit on this event and urges people to come out and support this great cause.
“Help us help him,” Myers said. “That’s all we’re asking.”

The Four Way Country Store is located at the corner of Highway 157 and Highway 527. Donation containers have also been placed around Haughton.

Myers added that all donations would go towards covering Harris’ medical expenses. If you would like more information about ways to make a donation, contact Myers at (318) 987-6867.

Odie will celebrate his 13th Birthday tomorrow. It is truly a miracle how far he has come.

He's not out of the woods, so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep up the prayers.

THANK YOU ALL!!!

Yep Keith,

Glad you asked.

Here is the information, in his Mom's words:

Here at st judes Odie sees many different doctors. outpatient he sees his main doctor in "D" clinic and all the doctors that practice under that doctor. inpatient he sees whoever the attending happens to be that day (or night) and that changes from day to day...so we see doctors quite often that we've never met before. all that said to say this...
this afternoon a doctor we've never seen before came in to see odie and you know give him the once over. while she was here she told odie he was kinda famous around here these days...said everybody's talking about how well his tumor is reacting to treatment.

Here's more news from a text from Lauri:

PET looked great. petscan looks for active tumor, and the lung spots did not show up on pet. little activity in liver, but very little by petscan , we're doing well...

The fish fry was awesome today. People just kept coming non-stop. The Shockley's (of Shockley's restaurant) cooked and it was great. For those who don't know. Katie Shockley would have been the same age as Odie, but she lost her battle with cancer. She was also treated at St. Judes.

The folks around lake Bistineau are great people! They always lend a hand and support a great cause! I'm sure the benefit will have a good turnout! :-)

Big Daddy,
I'll check tomorrow. I got in touch with the woman who is in charge. She is going to let me help tomorrow, so I'll find out more information.
Odie is very special to me. He was one of my first Cub Scouts and he was in my son's first grade class and other classes along the way.
Mrs. Myers told me this evening that he is starting to eat more and hopefully won't have to be put on a feeding tube.

Thanks for sharing Odie's story Bobi. God knows I wish I could be there as I love fish as well as a great cause. Any plans for a Paypal donation?
