NW Natchitoches Parish Oil Leasing Activity Becomes Active Again in mid November 2009

Went by the Clerk of Court's office today (Nov. 16, 2009) for Natchitoches Parish, LA and oil leasing in the northwest part of the parish is showing an uptick. Their office has been busy as of late with oil & gas lease people.

oree. I haven't been back to Natchitoches. I think Two Dogs is the member who would know. If he will tell you. LOL! I was in Arcadia two days ago and there was a nice crowd. Thirty or more. And they were hard at it. Most of the parish clerk's record rooms would look busy with one or two dozen. They aren't that big. A reminder to members: If you do not live where your mineral interest is located but will be going back for a holiday visit, it would be a good time to stop in the clerk of court's record room. The landmen will be gone. The staff should have some time to help you and you can leaf through the Day Book and ask questions at your leisure. You can learn a lot in thirty minutes or so.

How many landmen are there now in the clerk's office for December

There were about eight landmen in the Natchitoches Clerk's record room this afternoon. As a comparison the Sabine Clerk's office just before lunch had thirty.

The Natchitoches Clerk's record room had about 5 visitors when I was there Friday afternoon. Pretty lonely until Two Dogs showed up. Friday afternoon is not the best time to judge activity but I'll be back there and in Many Monday and I'll post what I find. Note to all unleased land owners: Don't shy away from your parish clerk's record room. You don't have to be a landman to find your way around. Tell the staff that you are a tax payer in the parish and have no experience in searching records. Ask for a short course in accessing the conveyance records. If that's too daunting, ask to see the "day book". Most clerks maintain one and it contains every document recorded by day. A quick flip through the day book will tell what companies are leasing and where.

BSC. The main page discussion, "Pipeline Contracts", is a good place to start.

How far south on 71 do you suppose they will go? Are the wells further south from Caddo/Bossier producing as well as expected?

This is an interesting development that contradicts Marcy's latest info on Natchitoches leasing.
