In 2,11N,16W there are several wells........Plugged and Abandoned and Permit Expired. Have the previous developers relinquished their rights? Even if they haven't, are rights renegotiable? Depths are between 8900' and 1950'. They are holes in the ground which, in my green way of thinking, is that they only have to go deeper to the Haynesville if that were plausible. Anyone offering me a glimmer of hope?

glyn, the information you are interested in likely only available in the public records of the county.  Go the County Clerk's office and perform a search.  If you have the name of one of the lessors under that lease, it should be a simple means to find a copy by way of a Grantor/Vendor search.  Once you have the name of the lessee and the date, you can do a search by Grantee/Vendee for a date range and find copies of all the leases for that particular piece of property or drilling unit.  Of course many of the original lessors may have passed on and if you want to find their heirs that would take a search by their names as Grantor/Vendor to find donations, successions or judgement of possessions.
