I was cleaing out some old files from my mom's belongings (she pased away in 04), and I came across a mineral deed conveyed to her by my grandfather in 1962. He conveyed 1/2 interest in the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter; the southwest quarter of the southeast quarter, section 3, township 9 north, range 12 west. Could someone tell me if this mineral deed remains valid until it is conveyed to someone else. Since it is a mineral deed to my mother would this pass to her heirs at her death?

Thanks, I had not thought of that. I made some contacts on property that "almost leased" in Natchitoches Parish. I'll do some inquiring before I obligate myself to leagal fees.
SONRIS shows well# 239983 in Section 3, Township 9N, Range 12W and is waiting on pipeline. Do you know who owns the land now and if it has been leased? You need an O&G and/or land attorney to see if that deed is still good and binding.
I have not yet been able to confirm if the deed is still good, but plan to go to the courthouse next week if Red Chute drops enough for special opps to end. Thank you for the update!

Unless you're a Sistrunk, you more than likely don't have anything. The property has been shown as being in their hands on plats since the early 80s. The production in the 'section' has been sparse; certainly indicating a gap of greater than ten years from 1962.
