Early Louisiana and Arkansas Oil and Gas, wonderful book about the industry in our part of the country, hundreds of excellent photos, covers all the booms from the early teens to the 50's.
Great topic! Thanks.
Bill, one entertaining book is "The Last Boom". On the industry history side there are "The Prize" and "History of Humble Oil & Refining Company".
Folks I have been contacted by several people that vendors such as amazon. com are offering Money in the Ground
and selling outdated copies of the book. The latest and the only one you should buy is the 4.5 edition dated 4/6
I went to Google search and typed in Money in the Gound, Meridian press Up came Meridian Press publishes oil and gas investment books.
Just a heads up, I just received my copy of Money In The Ground v4.5. Ordered through Amazon a few days ago. They specify version 4.5 in their description, so I figured it'd be safe to order.
Bacon. Your post caused me to look at my copy to see the version number. Although I have had it for a few years, it is also version 4.5. Published in April, 1997. I would have hoped that a more recent update would be available by now. The industry has turned upside down since 1997.
4.5 was updated 4/06. At least that's what it says on the edition page (whatever it's called). Still not super current but better than '97 I suppose.
That's probably as good as we can expect. It will be interesting to see future editions that incorporate the new world of shale gas.
Are there any books that explain Louisiana Mineral Code? A reference book with examples maybe.
Yes. But unless you aspire to practice mineral law save your money and try this link. It has more than enough mineral law to make me cross-eyed! LOL! Good Luck!

You can buy the mineral code bound for $37.00 from Claitor's Bookstore in Baton Rouge.
