Devon Applies for Their 1st Haynesville Units in Louisiana (12/23/09)

Devon applied for four (4) Haynesville Units in the Caddo Pine Island Field in Sections 22, 27, 28 & 30 of T20N-R14W. These are some of the northernmost Haynesville Units in Caddo Parish and hopefully signals renewed activity in the northen edge of the play. Given Devon's experience in drilling shale gas wells, any initial well results could provide key information.

Thanks Les, this should be very interesting.
Oh Yes!!! Exactly What I Like To Hear!!! Thanks Les!!!
Has anyone heard of any rumors or care to speculate on what Devon might know? Have land in 20-15-20 and this news is interesting indeed.

Thanks

This activity is about 4 to 5 miles due east of you. Although the units are in 20N - 14W ( Caddo Parish) Devon has taken additional leases on the Bossier side into 20N - 13W. I am also curious as to the prospect represented by these units but doubt that we will know until wells are permitted as Devon is noted for not making their intentions public.
Thanks Skip!
Skip, when did Devon buy the leases in the various sections of 20/14 which comprise the Unit Applications? Are they still actively acquiring leases in the northern parts of the play? If they are serious about their "solution" to the northern part of the play, they will be the one that acquires Chesapeake's northern Caddo/Bossier acreage.
SB. I agree that some of the CHK north Caddo and north Bossier leasehold would seem to be a good fit for Devon. The Devon leasehold I mention was acquired over the last year. The leases where the units are located were acquired last summer.
CL, it seems Devon believes they may have the solution required for the northern edge of the play. If they drill successful wells in these units, there is no reason to believe they couldn't replicate that in your area. Realize Devon has probably drilled over 5000 wells in the Barnett Shale in all parts of the play and that gives them a lot of experience and information with shale gas plays.
I hope that is the case. Good to know. As always, Thanks!
Devon has an investor event scheduled for next Tuesday.

It will be interesting to see what information, if any, they might divulge regarding this area of Louisiana as well as updates regarding their Kardell and other E.Texas spuds/completions (Warr Unit/Shelby Co, Whitton/Shelby Co.) at that time.....
