On SONRIS, in each well file in the space labeled Well Name, the unit designation precedes the well name and the two are separated by a semi-colon.

A few gotchas.

The unit designations are reused in different "fields."

For instance, there is a "HA RA SUA" in Metcalf Field, one in Johnson Branch Field, etc.

There's a lot of info on the sonris interactive maps web pages, but you have to learn how to turn on the right layers, interpret the results, etc.

If you only need one, post the Section Township Range, and I'll walk you through the steps.

HA RA SUA - Haynesville Zone, Reservoir A, Sand Unit A (Even though it is a shale formation rather than a sandstone formation). The Haynesville Zone can include both the Haynesville Shale formation and Bossier Shale formation.

Thanks, is there a way to find out what is the order number for a unit? And read the order?

What about any given section, is there a way to tell if it has a Haynesville unit for it?

To read a Field Order:

Use IE as your browser. Go to the SONRIS Home Page -
http://sonris-www.dnr.state.la.us/www_root/sonris_portal_1.htm -
In left hand column click on Document Access under Content Management - on DNR search page Click on Document Type then on Field Order and enter the 4 digit Field Code - Execute search. Scroll through the Field Orders until you find the Sand Unit you are looking for. Note: cut and paste the entire link.

The Commissioner of the Office of Conservation issues a Field Order in response to an application by an operator to form a drilling & production unit, approve alternate unit wells, commingle downhole production, change the size or shape of a unit, terminate an existing unit, etc. Anything an operator can make application for, upon approval, will be formally granted and described by a Field Order.

Pull up the black book index for your field. you can finfd the unit order # on there and the search by the #
