I'm with you on that, KH. We had an oil well in the '80s that came in a bit over 400 barrels a day... but it was flowing salt water before the first month was out and was plugged. It's been a long dry spell, LOL. We are across the lake from T6.
Les, Encana uses the terminology "back pressure" in describing the pressure of the Blackstone A-43H. As in 32 million cu ft/day with 9,500 psi back pressure. Why would they use that term rather than 9,500 psi flowing tubing pressure, or in the IP of a Haynesville well........9,500 psi flowing casing pressure????????? Is there any kind of a "gotcha" there? Also, does it appear to you that the TVD of the well is 14,000 ft? With a 4,000 ft lateral, which would actually be rather short?

Yes - the lateral is not that long so great result. "Back pressure" is analagous to flowing pressure because the choke is holding back pressure on the well. Like others I want to see the choke size but the pressure implies a small choke.

What range of back pressures would you categorize as:

a) excellant:

b) strong

c) Average:

d) Poor

Trying to get a sense on what many of the recent Devon wells in E.TX might actually be looking like as far as long term prospects - as the company seems to have made it standard operating procedure lately to report all of their IP's only as "adjustable choke".
DG, that is a tough question but here is my scale:

a) Excellant - Above 8000 psi

b) Strong - 6000 to 8000 psi

c) Good - 4000 to 6000 psi

d) OK - 2000 to 4000 psi

e) Poor - Less Than 2000 psi
Thanks Les, that is helpful. Hard to assess the algebra on these wells when the reports are purposefully leaving out key info for the equations.

I understand and I hope I was not rude in my reply. I enjoy reading this website and normally I don't respond when I see incorrect information. The pipeline this well flows into is a 16" EnCana line that flows to an Enbridge 12" line at the present time. I was one of two contract surface landmen who bought this line for EnCana. I have worked for them for five years and they know what they are doing, from 60 mcf Deep Bossier wells in Robertson Co., to 4 mcf Travis Peak wells, to the Haynesville.
no you werent rude.. i was just trying to figure some stuff out. i am part of a new well that came in in Pleasant Hill 239985 and was trying to figure it out. i was told that the pipelines they are hooking all the wells to could only handle 10MMcfe .it didnt make any sense to me but was just trying to find out some info on what to expect out of our well. all i have been able to find out is it has test pressure of 14500.
