There has been alot of discussion about the shale becoming sand on the north side of the play. Does it turn to sand to the east, west, and south or does it just thin out?

Catfish, there are areas in the west that the shale grades into a limestone based on operator statements. My impression is the shale thins out in other areas or becomes too deep for economic development.
Thanks Les, the southern end is where it becomes too deep from what I read. How thick would it have to be for develoment in general? I guess the NE side thins out would that be your impression?
My understanding is the the more NE you go the lower the porosity.
Catfish, most companies have said they need at least 100 ft of net shale. Depth is definitely more of an issue to the south and southwest. The Haynesville Shale may also thin to the south in Louisiana.
Les what do you think about the ada field in 8w 17 and 18n? I know most of it is held by production into the HOSS but I don't know if there has been sufficient drilling to the depth to where the HA would be. Thanks
Catfish, you are correct that there has not been sufficient information disclosed in the Ada Field area to understand the Haynesville Shale potential. Maybe Jay could provide some insight into what is the primary factor defining the play boundary to the northeast.
Les/Jay, would it be safe to say that for at least a portion of the play to the south in Louisiana, where the Haynesville thins, the Bossier becomes thicker, or at least more productive?
SB, my understanding is the Bossier Shale thickens and/or improves in rock quality to the south as the Haynesville Shale thins.
