A friend came by today and I was telling him about the Mainland Resources well in Mississippi. He lives in Concordia Parish and was telling me about a well drilled close to where he lives back in the 80s, he said the rig was supposed to be the second biggest in the world and that they stayed on location for 2 years. He said that everything was a hush hush kind of deal that no one in the area could find out about it. I found the well on Sonris and it was permitted for the Cotton Valley and drilled to 25,000 feet. The serial number is 188719 and its location is about 20 miles West on Natchez MS. After drilling  in 1986 the well was stacked on this well site. There are 4 or 5 different kinds of well logs for the well on Sonris. Just wondering if any of yall here on GHS, along with me, would want one of our resident Geologists to tell us what the log says. Did they hit the Haynesville Shale or some other formation that may be productive at these deeper depths.
