AFTER nearly two weeks of snow and sub zero temperatures rivaling those of Siberia, the old joke about global warming being a good thing has had a new lease of life. So what has happened to doom-laden predictions of the world heating up as glaciers melt? Mike Kelly reports.


FIRST the good news. These bitter winters aren’t going to last forever. The bad news is that they will go on for the next 30 years as we have entered a mini ice age.
 
So says author Gavin Cooke in his book Frozen Britain. He began writing it in 2008 and it was published last year when experts were scratching their heads at the cause of the bitter winter of 2009/10 which brought England to a standstill. Some said it was a one-off event, with experts predicting snowfall becoming increasingly rare.

The upshot is that Gavin is not alone in predicting we face another 30 frozen years, each getting progressively colder than the last.


Particularly hard hit will be Britain and Northern Europe and it is only after the 30-year period that the effects of man-made global warming will kick in. He said: “When I was writing this it was new. To be honest I was kind of winging it, piecing it together. But recently there has been a sea change among some pretty significant figures.”


They include renowned international climatologist Mike Lockwood of the University of Reading. In 2007 he said the cyclical change in the Sun’s energy was not responsible for climate change. In April this year, writing in the New Scientist Magazine, he did a U-turn and said it was.


After a study, he and his team concluded that recent cold British winters have coincided neatly with the biggest fall off in the sun’s activity for a century, contradicting the accepted view that carbon dioxide emissions and other greenhouse gases are likely to warm our climate.

Reality will usually adapt to prove the greatest number of experts WRONG.

Two Recent Examples - I am sure older folks here can think of others ...

1) The stock market/real estate/economy tanking when almost no one predicted it.

2) Natural gas shortages predicted just 2 years before the Haynesville and other shales are announced

Excellent post, so much to work with here.

First of all, of course they want to call it "climate change," it's the ultimate catch-all term they can apply to whatever they want, instead of something that is too specific like "the next ice age" or "global warming" that can be proven demonstrably false with actual empirical evidence.

i.e., a very well-documented fact with solid evidence that can only be denied by the true fools of the "flat-earth" world) . . . somehow unbalance the globe and cause a natural correction, leading to a colder climate, i.e., leading to an unexpected mini ice age?>>>

To answer your brilliant question, no, probably not, there are much better explanations. Like the sun being the ultimate driver of temperature fluctuations, which is what people like me have been saying FOR YEARS. And yes, it is getting crowded here on the Flat Earth, we fools should be careful not to load up one side too much or it might flip over like Guam.

Sometimes, I do wish i could find a suitable female flat earther to club in the head and drag home, I have some nice charcoal drawings on the walls that I'm sure she would just adore, and I'm also sure my other wife won't mind having some help with all of her chores. Or else. You know how us cavemen are.

But really no, the glaciers and ice caps aren't going to disappear. I'm sure you can find other completely unfounded claims by the hysterical environmentalist left to tout as something only a fool could deny. Here, the fool did some work for you.

There are tons more. All it would take is the slightest bit of search engine effort to be better informed about the things you type in bold print on this forum. Like, google "polar caps not melting" instead of "polar caps melting" and actually read both sides like a good fence sitter should.

Book learning and common sense and platitudes about understanding history INDEED.

I don't think anyone can deny that climate changes.
What is scary about it is that there are those who believe there is some kind of financial or marketing solution in stopping or controlling it!
