The Holly Field

I watch Dept. of Conservation, Sonris, online Desoto courthouse records and the Holly Field is without a doubt the busiest of all fields. Also it is the field getting all the gas factories. Encana, Chesapeak, Encana, Exco, and now El Paso are doing the gas factory concept. Is it because it is so good in the field, or because it is close to major pipelines??

KCM, you never sound like a dummy to me.

 

The red contour is for 15 porosity-feet (porosity times net thickness) and is Petrohawk's indication of what they believe is the better area of the field.  The productive area could extend to the 10 contour and beyond.

Les, you are kind. I do feel very ignorant when it comes to interpreting these shale maps. We have reserved minerals in Desoto, sections 7 and 18 of 14/14, section 21 of 14/15, and section 21 of 15/14, + a little in Shreveport. My main interest though is in the Desoto minerals. The Bossier Shale is very important as when these Haynesville wells deplete, then the Bossier will hopefully be there to take their place.

We have minerals in 8 13/13.

Does this mean we potentially have Bossier in addition to the Haynesville Shale?

When do you think we will hear more about this?  Maybe after the Haynesville is HBP?

As a follow up to my initial post from Nov. 22nd I didn't touch on decline rates but after looking over the data I've noticed that sec 24 declined only roughly 70% and sec 9 is on pace to beat that.  Also, the mean of the other sections is better than the industry estimated norm.  So, maybe this is also a good reason for the activity.

Parkdota, did you notice the production data for Sec. 4 just north of 9? Another super well--21500mcfd. When they did the east west lateral on that sec. in 2008, it was a crummy well, but with the north south one, it is great.

Yeah, I felt it would come in strong.  From what I can tell they have nearly all the wells drilled in sec 4 waiting to frac.  I'm guessing January they'll come in.  Sec 9 should be around a month there after.

Can you clarify decline rate?  If production declined 70%,  then that would mean that if initial production was "100",  it would decline to produce "30".   Is that correct?  Thank you.

David, if a well produces 10 million cubic feet a day for the 1st month then according to most decline rates it would be around 2 mcf/day at the end of 12 months as 80-81% 1st year declines are the standard.  Some do better some do worse.

I got a letter today saying Encana is making application for 7 alternative unit wells in Holly Field sections 8, 17, & 22.  That should make some folks very happy.

There are a number of sections 8, 17 & 22 in the Holly Field.  Got a township(s) to go with the sections?
