EnCana has received a permit for their 2nd Haynesville Shale well in T12-R8W. This well location will be another key data point as it is further east than any previous permitted location. It is also the eighth Haynesville Shale well permitted south of Ashland Road.

Does anyone know what a "workover" rig is and what it is used for?
Thanks.
All I know is what Wikipedia has to say:

Are you aware of workovers being planned in the Liberty Field? I have no idea if there is any potential for these wells to do better, or not...
Todd, workover rigs are smaller versions of drilling rigs that are used for various remedial well work. One common task for Haynesville Shale wells is to install production tubing after a well has been producing 2-3 months and the water rate has declined.
Hi Les,
Okay, but the Anita Robinson was completed on 10/22/10, over 6 months ago. Are we not a little late for installing production tubing? Any other possibilities? What I read about workover rigs indicates that they can be used in repairs; this well is a low producer, but latest production data seems in line with expectations given the IP (of course the well could have blown up in the last two months and I wouldn't know from sonris...). It is, I suppose, also possible that Todd's comments about workover rigs are not specifically directed at this rig.
Robert, as you said Todd's comment did not identify a specific well for the workover rig or if one was actually in the field. If will note I said that such rigs can be used for a whole range of tasks and simple offered the production tubing installation as one example. Such tasks include both normal downhole activities as well as unforeseen repairs. In absence of an AFE or a Sonris posting it is virtually impossible to determine the plans for a specific workover rig.
By the way, I checked and Sonris indicates the production tubing was installed during the initial completion which I found unusual in comparison to some other EnCana wells.
what i have so far on this well

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
