I think 8-9,000' is a good max for the James Lime. Others might know better and I would look at if any are drilled around your area to check their depth. The Haynesville/ Bossier wells seem to be +12,000' so that would be about right. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Natural gas, oil, condensate, CO2, H2s, water, water vapor, frac fluids, etc. will all get or can get produced in a well and come up together. They are then seperated out by gravity on the well pad and either trucked or pipelined to another facility to seperate out by gravity and/or process to go to market. So it's pretty much a mixture. The lighter hydrocarbons (specific gravity 0.5-0.8) are sometimes call condensate or natural gasoline and sell around the price of a barrel of oil I believe.

The cf/bbl (gas to oil ratio) for this well was 7070, which anything under 10,000 is generally described as an oil well. These maybe could be called more of a condensate well? Liquid condensate can flash to gas at lower pressures too. It will make the BTU of the gas higher which can get you more $$$ for the gas.

Getting some liquids out of the area could spark some interst back in the area for sure. Not sure if this is only skimming the top and trying to cause hype like the Kardell or if this is actually going to be a good find. Seems pretty good if they got 16,000bbl out of Skillern so far, I just don't see that reported on the RRC?

That would be around half of the entire county's condensate production in the past year and a half!
Let's all spend ALL of our time postulating and/or trying to create a mess out of other-people's minerals and/or royalties. You CAN get left out & create all kinds of confusion, animosity and problems for others (and their heirs). I'm glad I get checks and am not relentlessly making an antagonistic situation with companies that offer good money to lease and spend millions on making molecules come out of the ground that I can't make come up & be sold. Some people take great glee (and a living) in advising land/mineral owners while steering them into NO-MONEY situations... might as well just GIVE them your minerals & go to Vegas.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
