Since The Times seems to have lost the "Locations" portion of their report, for the second week now, I performed a cut-and-paste from the SONRIS Lite list of wells permitted this week.  Yes, permits are becoming fewer in number but they are far from disappearing all together.

Do you know the total number of wells that have been drilled since the beginning of the Haynesville boom - how many wells and the time frame?

Thanks

From May, 2007 to October, 2011 the state reported ~1500 Wells in Production, ~100 Waiting On Completion, ~50 Drilling and ~50 Permitted, Not Drilling.  Although there are no updated totals since October, the total number of HA wells in all categories is now approaching 2500.

Samson just moved a rig onto pad site at 2625 and 31 in Harrison County.  Wonder if it Cotton Valley or HA well.

The Times Oil and Gas News article covers industry activity in District 6 in Louisiana and does not include E. TX.  I suggest that you post your question in the Harrison County Group.

Skip, I see that one of the permitted wells this past week is #244374, the Sustainable Forest 3 H in Section 3 of 12/8, Liberty Field.  It is permitted by Swepi.  Are you as surprised as I am by this permit?  After the wells is Sections 4,5, & 7, I had just about given up this area of the Haynesville for dead.  Your thoughts?

SB, there is a wide variance in the IP's for HA horizontal wells in this area.  Not far to the north are better to excellent wells.  I remind myself often that although SWEPI and Encana are partners in the Play, their financial conditions are different.  It would be my estimate that SWEPI is willing to invest in this area based not upon the HA but upon the BO.

I would have to agree with you that is the Bossier prospectivity that Swepi would be interested in.

Are you sure about the Wilcox at 1400-1500ft?

jeff, I do not produce the report.  The Times newspaper compiles the report from the paper records turned in by well operators to the LOC District 6 office.  The newspaper is prone to some mistakes but not in this case as the completion and allowable reports all cite the Wilcox.

Skip, do you have any idea why sec 33 9n 12w is the only
Section not unitized in all of 9n ? I have some land in that area?

It appears that Chesapeake and Comstock can not come to an agreement on which company will unitize Section 33.  That's because both have a number of leases in the section with the oldest (CHK) still effective until the end of 2012.  Comstock may have enough acreage to successfully challenge a CHK unit application and is waiting out the expiration of one or more of the CHK leases so that they can lease the lands and apply for a unit.  I didn't calculate the acres listed in OG&M leases for each so I am guessing at a stalemate in that regard.  With the price of natural gas what it is CHK may be willing to allow their leases in the section to expire.
