Got a message from group memeber Shale in Europe earlier today and thought I'd post it here for anyone to comment:
"Around 2009 a Australian group took leases on 62850 acres in Trinity County. They later changed their holdings into a 10% NPI, and invested around $90 million.
What is the status of activity in this county? Which companies are exploring? Their goal is to develop a liquids play, do you see this feasible?
The name of the property is 'monument prospect', does it also go under any other name?
Leases were arranged by a law firm called Milbank.
The company is very succesful in Europe setting up shale exploration, under the name of Cuadrilla.
I would appreciate if you can cast some light on this."

He may be able to hold more than the 640 acres with a well - There is no horizontal pugh on the Federal stuff, and it can be put in multiple units - literally, he could put 0.1 federal acres into a unit with private minerals, avoid most of the environmental stuff, and hold the entire federal lease associated with the 0.1 acre. There's other ways to skin the cat, and I think his folks advising him gave him bad advice.
Once Tekxon receives all approvals to drill, does it have to publicly disclose when it mobilises a rig or spuds a well? Or can it wait until the well is completed before filing with regulatory agencies? ie. is it possible to know when a private company has received approvals and is starting to drill?
You can probably use Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to have the agencies release the drilling permit etc. Once there is actually a rig on the site, its almost always reported by one of the commercial services, which a few of the folks here follow closely. I'm pretty certain we will be able to tell you when a rig is on it.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
