George Mitchell: Hydraulic Fracturing Pioneer Turns 94...wish him well on GHS

Give your happy birthday wishes below. We will be forwarding these to him at the end of the week...

"The rise [in shale gas] has beenhelped along by a variety of factors.... But the biggest difference was down to the efforts of one man: George Mitchell, ...who saw the potential for improving a known technology, fracking, to get at the gas. Big oil and gas companies were interested in shale gas but could not make the breakthrough in fracking to get the gas to flow. Mr Mitchell spent ten years and $6m to crack the problem (surely the best-spent development money in the history of gas). Everyone, he said, told him he was just wasting his time and money."

Happy birthday, Mr. Mitchell!  Thank you for you foresight, hard work, and perseverance!

that's better! keep em coming

.        Someone bought a Lottery Ticket in Zephyrhills, Florida recently. The PowerBall ticket won an eye-popping 590 Million Dollars - largest jackpot ever ! This win will dominate the news for a long time (don't blame the media, they focus on what they believe the public wants to hear).
.        At the same time, all Americans are winning a lottery of a different sort. New supplies of Oil & Gas are bringing about a blizzard of changes. We're already reducing $ imports of crude oil (from OPEC countries). We are already generating more electricity from natural gas instead of coal - reducing costs and the impact to our environment.  On top of this, we're planning more than a hundred Petrochemical Projects to use low-cost natural gas. Each one of these projects averages about twice the dollars of the lottery winner ! Thank You, Mister Mitchell ! Some of the larger projects will take years to build. The Sasol Project in Lake Charles may become the largest direct foreign investment in U.S. history. Other projects on the list to make liquid fuels from natural gas are smaller & not as far along as Sasol. The list also includes several projects to liquefy & export natural gas (LNG). Two LNG projects (out of the twenty or so) have U.S. Government approval. Stay tuned. Steel companies that use large amounts of natural gas are building along the Gulf Coast.
.        We will soon see the impacts of the use of natural gas to make chemical intermediates like ethylene, ammonia & methanol. Major companies like Dow, ExxonMobil, Shell, are all planning multiple expansions to their Gulf Coast operations, and will build here instead of in other countries.  Surprisingly, about a dozen of these projects are outside the Gulf Coast. Check out the list. You can get the list by clicking on http://www.chemplants.com . Feel free to forward it to others who will want to use it.....

Where would we be without your effort?

Happy Birthday George

Happy Birthday to a true pioneer. I appreciate your extraordinary efforts to discover a new way to extract shale oil and gas. And I also smile every time I find you in my chain of title. I am working on a project that includes you right now and you have always been involved in our industry in such a progressive way.

Wishing you many more birthdays and good health for years to come.

Make this your best birthday ever. Your foresight and perseverance made my family very happy. Thanks for all that you do.

George, thank you for the many many things you have done for all of us whom you will never meet.   Your efforts in the Oil and Gas business...the Woodlands and many others project that probably have your foot print that I am not aware of.   God Bless you and your family.

Happy Birthday  and may you have many more.
Thank for your forward thinking and adoption of technology.

Wishing you a very happy birthday!  When others told it couldn't happen, you showed that with hard work and a committment to an idea, that it could and you did it!  May God continue to shower you with His blessings.

THANK YOU AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy Birthday George,

Our family wishes you well. The Mott's, Motley's and Oliver's have been in oil
with producing wells. After my Mom's passing, our family found out we have
are heirs to 91 min acres in Haynesville Shale in Lufkin Texas Chandler Johnson
A-19. We hope when technology allows for deeper drilling it will allow us to follow in our ancestors footsteps.

God Bless!!!
