Sometimes you forget to look in your own backyard for drilling rigs. Saw new small rig in Laura Lavelle field on 2781 about 5 miles from Pennington. Guess this is Carlos Currie permit listed on drilling permits. Looks like they are drilling one or two new shallow wells for oil as well as plugging some. They are still increasing storage tanks on all of this field. Also see quite a bit being hauled out.
Also hearing that several younger folks out of jobs are being hired as rig and field workers near Lovelady and Weldon. Good for the local economy--even got a few people off of food stamps!

Joseph, Not sure you meant to post this to the main page or the Eaglebine group, I think 2014 looks bright for the area, both conventional shallow oil (Carrizo) and the deeper stuff. Lets hope in translates well for both the mineral owners and the local folks.
In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of) nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
