yeah your right but this is the second hosston. 1st being section 15. I've found the discussion you started. will start following that one.
Any news on new leasing activity on expired leases that is ongoing in the NE Sabine and NW Natchitoches Parish areas?
John, I don't know of any current interest or lease offers in that general area.
Correct, olddog. Please make a reply or bump that other discussion thread so that it will be at the top of the group discussions with this one.
Skip,
I see that the XTO Powell #1 and Blankenship #! have been re-completed in the Hosston formation. is there any news on the outcome of the re-completion?
John, where do you see a report of the re-completion of those wells in the Hosston?
Visited the locations. Wellheads have been replaced with smaller trees. Assuming the re-completions have occurred, I would know no other reason why they would be replaced other than for corrosion or some other mechanical reason. Just curious. I do own property in The Blankenship Unit. I live out of state and was visiting there last week.
A re-completion would be reported in the state database. Since there is no report I suspect that there was some sort of work over performed. It is possible that the Powell well was re-fracked as multiple Haynesville operators have been testing that technology. The production history shows zero production in Sept, '14, modest production in Oct. which may be a partial month of production and a significant increase in Nov. and thereafter. That is similar to the production history we have seen on wells we know have been re-fracked. The Blandenship reported zero in April and the production has severely declined so it may be next if just to revive production enough to hold the leases.

Thanks for the notice, Penrod. Here is a link to the new Allowable Report. I was hoping for wet gas but it looks dry. XTO paid a pretty price for jumping into the H Shale frenzy late and that far south. Re-completing their HA wells in shallower formations will allow them to maintain their leasehold for future possibilities.

Skip,
Are these production levels encouraging for potential future Hosston wells in this area or do you believe that this is simply being completed by XTO to hold production in leased sections? Also, do they access this formation through horizontal or vertical drilling?
This is a vertical completion from a very narrow depth range of 10'. I'm not a completion or reservoir engineer but this looks like an effort to spend as little as possible to establish production and to hold the dearly bought leases.
If 10' is indeed the full interval deemed to be productive then a horizontal well would be a waste of money. If there were zones that looked better over the entire vertical depth of the well I would have expected a re-completion in some other zone.. If that's an accurate assumption then there is nothing better than the Hosston Formation. I was hoping for a James Lime completion.

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
