XTO just permitted the Nanooks well in J. W. Wood, A617, Nacogdoches County, TX. This well is just west on the XTO's Golden Flashes well and is right on the Shelby/Nacogdoches line. It is north of just about everything in the Nacogdoches Co. Haynesville except the Golden Flashes. Rather surprising development in my view!

I still haven't settled on just what they are doing that far northwest with a Haynesville well. Do you think it could have something to do with their EnCana deal?
Their first effort in that area was modest (compared to later IPs not that far away) but that was back in 2009. The Rudy Mitchell #1H is in A.S. Baker, A-58, right on the SA/Nac line, and it came in at 5.6 MMcfd. However... it only had ~2500' lateral so that IP wasn't terrible. They've come a long way in five years so I expect that they will drill this longer lateral (~6700') to see what it will do in that area.
Golden Flashes IP was 8.520 MMcfd on a 13/64 choke with a 5875# flowing pressure. It has produced 1.851 Bcf in 9 months from a ~4,600' lateral. Nanooks is proposed to be 6,700'.
SB and jfree1--- this well is offset of Mrs Baggett's GoldenFlashes DU #1 and Mr Johnson Zips DU #1 both excellent wells in the Bossier/Haynesville shale. Pad site construction to start next week or so with spud next 30-45 days. This will be Nanook # 3 ( pad site changed location--- drill #3 before # 1 ) This was the Barfield #1H James Lime well drilled by Pogo and last operated by CHK and they abandoned lease in late 2011 :-)) XTO Leased the unit after 90 day clause expired around early January 2012--leased May 2012-- only new lease in area since about 2009. XTO has another unit continuous just to South the Barfield-Ward HBP marginal James Lime well. It has been survey with slight change in Unit shape ( Name change --Albatross Unit) and plans spud H Shale early to mid 2015. XTO also has two other units across river into Shelby south of Golden Flashes between it and Martinsville #1 well. No ideal the plans when they will spud these two
ADUBU,
You have a darn good pipeline of info! Any idea if or when XTO plans to move another rig or two into the Nacogdoches/San Augustine area?
SB-- My pipeline good in area I personally know all these landowners in these units.
I understand they( XTO) plans to work two rigs this year in the Shelby/Nac/SA area. They only had one this past 10-12 months working I think.
Jffree1 keeps up with Rig movement so jffree1 can you add comments on the Rigs in area please.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
