And ya'll heard that from the chairman of Chesapeake.....................hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........reliable source or a snake oil salesman hyping things up????????????????????
Now since Mclendon or whatever his name is said there are no dry holes, is the new Chesapeake Haynesville shale map accurate? I'm in the map, but close to the edge.
Does shell have a map of where they think it is? Can anyone post a copy of it?
Long live the Haynesville Shale cried Jack Blake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Jack Blake has spoken!
I'm confused ... where is it cited in this discussion that Mr. McLendon said that? And what do dry holes have to do with the edge? Please clarify, thanks.
It wasn't cited in this discussion, but I saw a quote from him somewhere (I think it was a newspaper article or news story on the internet) where he said there were no dry holes in the Barnett and that the Haynesville would be the same.
Long live the Haynesville Shale howled jack Blake!!!!!!!!!!!
El Paso is still sticking to the "conservative" map. I would think they would widen it considering they have a lot of HBP ( Sibley/Ada field and I think in Bienville too?) outside their "tight" border. What would be the reasoning behind this? Just trying to figure big O & G out. ha ha
Taylor, I think each company has its own philosophy or objectives. Some tend to be very conservative with tight boundaries. Others with more information will show a larger area. Some in the early days tended to show maps that favored their acreage position. Some maps are definitely outdated since they do not even cover areas with known successful wells. To check spot the following wells on the map:
Goodrich/Matador, E&L Dev 15 #1 Well, Serial #237178, S15-T19N-R15W
Southern Star, AS Burt 20 #1 Well, Serial #238938, S20-T19N-R13W
EnCana, Charles H Goben #1 Well, Serial #236929, S19-T13N-R8W
EnCana, Janet Messenger # Well, Serial #237289, S8-T10N-R9W
Shell, Olympia Mills 26 #1 Well, Serial #236842, S26-T9N-R12W
Cabot?, TGU 1-101 # Well, Nacogdoches County
Penn Virginia, Fogle #5H Well, Serial #654152, Harrison County
The HS/BS play may be larger but at minimum it covers the above wells.
Les, I had heard that Well, Serial #236842, was a successul well but SONRIS has a description of "Shut - In Dry Hole - Future Utility" with a Stat Date of 11/03/08. Am I reading this right or did something happen to this well?
I am told that the casing is cracked and that the well will have to be redrilled. That is only what I have found out and nothing is official. I was also told that the well had 16,000 pounds of pressure. This may have contributed to the cracked casing.
