Are your neighbors giddy? Do your family members walk around with smiles on their faces? Is someone talking about buying a new pickup truck, e.g., the Ford Lightning.
Maybe they know something you don't know, huh? Maybe they're watching the NG futures market.
Here's the Henry Hub Natural Gas Futures Quotes via the CME Group.
Check out what your mailbox money might be in the coming months. I'd call it an $8 smile inducer.

None from me... The BSI KEYDETS DU Unit hasn't produced not a drop since October of last year. I saw about a half of a months production that paid when NG was above $3.00. Thanks for reminding me, I'm gonna go send another email to xtoenergy.com.
I acknowledge the excitement that mineral lessors feel regarding the "futures price" of natural gas but when it gets this high I have to modify my appreciation for the benefits of royalty recipients with the strain that high energy prices place on the most vulnerable of your fellow citizens.
I agree Skip. I would be thrilled with a steady $5.00
The Haynesville operators now have breakeven points in the low $2 range and make very good return on their investment at $3.50. In fact before the price went through the roof, a number of them bragged about their profit at that price. Every time the price of natural gas gets this high, it incentivizes two things: fuel switching to dirty coal and investment in renewables. How this plays out in the next decade will depend on politics. After that the impact of climate change will be such that there will be no public support for continuing with fossil fuels. The only way natural gas, my business and your mailbox money, continues for 20+ years is if the price is reasonable and the methane emissions are cut by 2/3. Neither of those things seem to beon the horizon presently.
Mine are all producing but all of my checks have gone down the last two months even though Nat has has doubled
The price has fluctuated the first quarter, see below. Besides the gross price of gas on your statement, you need to check the volumes produced.
2022 U.S. Natural Gas Monthly Settlement Prices
JAN: $4.024
FEB: $6.265
MAR: $4.568
APR: $5.336

Thanks Skip. I do try to check both
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
