Capture Point's Red River Pipeline will supply CO2 for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR).  I have been told the company will seek state approval for eminent domain authority in Natchitoches, Sabine, Red River, Bienville, Webster and Claiborne parishes.

Eminent domain is the power of the government to seize private property for public use without the owner's consent, provided it pays just compensation.

Did some digging into SONRIS to review the details of this Red River CO2 Pipeline application.

End point for this CO2 that is being sourced in Louisiana is the Midway Smackover Field in Lafayette County, Arkansas. (see attached PDF)

  • Located about 30 miles north of La / Ark state line.
  • CO2 not for Louisiana oil fields

Have to figure that a similar application for pipeline is happening for the Arkansas portion of this line.

CapturePoint LLC is the operator on the Midway Smackover Field - which appears to be a 1940's discovery.

  • I can't find info on historical production, remaining oil in place or anticipated recoverable oil volumes.
  • Production at around 6500'. 36 API oil. 5-mile long strat trap (probably an updip pinch out trap)

Anticipated pipeline volume is 1.4 MM tonnes per year.

  • Using 18.15 MCF per metric tonne conversion (Google), this works out to about 25.4 BCF of CO2 being transported per year.
