Hey Army!

We've had some big news in the past few weeks and I wanted to share some of the biggest news with you today. American Electric Power Company, one of the major suppliers of electric energy in the United States, has signed on to the Pickens Plan to help us push for a 21st Century transmission grid.

AEP operates in 11 states and owns the nation's largest electricity transmission system -- so they are a key part of realizing our vision for wind. To bring more renewable energy to market, we must have transmission.

The Chairman, President and CEO of American Electric Power is a good friend and a very smart guy named Mike Morris. I want to introduce him to you because he gets it. And, because AEP has over 5 million customers, they get it, too.

Mike, say a few words to the 1.4 million members of the New Energy Army.

Thank you Boone. At American Electric Power we support a more diversified and domestic-based energy supply mix, increased energy efficiency and greater investment in new energy technologies. Energy will play a central role in our economic recovery and support for modernizing our electric system is stronger than ever. We know that as alternative energy sources continue to come to be harnessed, we will need a smarter, modern and more efficient transmission system that can move that energy from where it is being produced, often in remote locations, to where it is needed at any given time. Imagine meeting the high demand for electricity on a hot summer day in New York with power that includes wind from Kansas and a few hours later shifting that power to meet the same needs in southern California. We can't do that today. We will only be able to do this if we modernize our transmission grid.

We want to be able to continue to deliver electric power where it is needed, when it is needed as efficiently and cleanly as possible. This is not only good business, for AEP, but it is good for America as we all work together to rebuild our economy. Boone?

Thank you, Mike. The Pickens Plan is much stronger for having partners like AEP. The Army is marching forward along a broader front because AEP is on board.

Majority, yes. For now. Things change.
Ahhh, a royal flush of data, have you? Come on, R, give us a hint, 2 or 3 of your sources ... if you really have 10:1 odds, what does it matter? Maybe it's Cramer? lol

At any rate, whether the impetus is global ... err ... climate change or weaning off foreign oil, what does it matter, as per the discussion topic, how we change our energy production & consumption as long as it favors the US economy & environment? Why not promote US ingenuity, production & implementation of new & improved energy production?

Robert - I will agree with you that I don't use the "newsletters" as a primary source for my convictions re. changes in energy production & consumption. And I do agree that a landscape full of "windmills" isn't the magic pill of a solution. Just didn't agree with your opinion/position re. climate change.

Here's another resource ...

Just as in history there were periods like the age of enlightenment, the industrial revolution ... perhaps the history books will term this period as the age of the energy revolution. After decades of research & debate, we're at that point where we're ready to start implementing ... something???? to bridge this transition. Some ideas & practices will fall by the wayside, others will be developed & pushed to the forefront ... probably with the theme of responsible conservancy for our nation & planet, and a sub theme of economic development.

It is a time of transition ... we're sitting at the "buffet" of ideas & technology. May the best horse, which is not necessarily the odds on favorite, win.

Jim,
Since when has being in a majority made people right. The facts are what make people right. The first thought that crosses my mind is the fact that North America at one time was half covered by a glacier. Right or wrong? Sure it was that's a fact. Why then did it melt away? Was there man made global warming millions of years ago, of course not. The planets temps have always fluctuated and always will.

Second thought. Most scientist have a far left leaning agenda anyway. They remind me of the police in the JonBenet Ramsey case. They have their mind set on a suspect and they don't want any facts getting in their way. Besides you don't think these institutions of higher learing are putting out conservative scientist do you?

Third thought, the only time Europe was ten years ahead of the U.S. in anything was back in the 1700's. Funny how they were crying like babies when Russia shut off their gas.Does that sound like a group that's ten years ahead of anybody.

Fourth thought, this global warming agenda is being pushed Al Gore, who is from a long line of left leaning, the sky is falling, hypocritical, uninformed, hot air bags. I wouldn't follow Al Gore into a Pizza Hut and neither should you.
Jim,
Well of course the trees and the vegetation are moving south it's too cold for them, I saw a oak tree leading a flock of geese just the other day. As far as Al Gore, any vice president or president who criticize a sitting president is a disgrace to himself and the country. Say what you want about Bush, he still understands protocal, and yes that goes for Dick Chenney too.
Jim,
Just to throw a kicker in there. I look forward to you listening to the tape of Nancy Pelosi saying that "enforcing immigrations laws in america, is un-american" with that kind of brilliant thinking it's shouldn't surprise you that I don't listen to the Al's and Nancy's of the world.
