Energtek Eyes Expanding Role for Natural Gas in US Transportation Sector
NEW YORK, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Energtek Inc., a world leader in the development of Adsorbed Natural Gas (ANG) technology, expects Natural Gas (NG) to play an increasing role in fueling transportation across the United States. President Barack Obama has called for a major reduction in dependency on foreign oil in his energy portion of the Economic Stimulus Bill now being implemented.
President Obama's Energy Plan calls for a reduction in oil consumption to "save more oil than we currently import from the Middle East and Venezuela combined within the next 10 years."
More than 60% of oil consumed in the U.S. is used by the transportation sector. Most of the vehicles currently on the road have internal combustion engines that can run on gasoline or NG. Using NG as a substitute for gasoline can dramatically reduce oil imports. NG is the world's cleanest fossil fuel and significantly reduces carbon monoxide and greenhouse gas automobile emissions. NG is an abundant natural resource and is cheaper than oil.
"NG is currently the only commercially-viable motor fuel alternative to oil," said Energtek CEO Lev Zaidenberg. "NG is cheaper, cleaner and there are proven reserves to power the country's enormous automotive fleet for the foreseeable future. No other energy source, including renewable fuels, can be implemented as quickly and completely into the motor vehicle market as NG."
Other industry leaders such as oil magnate T. Boone Pickens have continued to promote the widespread use of NG within the automotive sector. "With Congress considering energy legislation in the coming days and months, I am continuing my call to implement a real national energy policy that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil through [increased use of] NG in our transportation system," said Pickens.

As much as it seems to be common sense to use NG for auto fuel to free this country from imports, it's hard to believe that there aren't politicians all over the place trying to stick that feather in their cap!

PG, until recently Washington was reluctant to support natural gas because their perception was US gas reserves were limited and prices were too volatile. That perception is being changed based on on their recent discussions with Aubrey & Boone and Washington now appears ready to jump on the natural gas bandwagon.

JA, recent statements made by Rep Markey and feedback regarding the planned climate change regulations indicate a more positive attitude toward natural gas. We should see some confirmation of this position by mid-summer.

JA, I had the opportunity to listen to Rep Markey's views a few weeks ago but this was verbal and not written. Also, our company has Washington staff that provides some feedback regarding policy direction but again no written statements.

I also thought it was strange that CHK, HK, Encana, Devon, etc. don't all have NGV. Especially CHK since they are pushing CNG so much. They all need to come together and decide to push for 50% of their vehicles move to NG over the next 3 years. They should also make it a big deal with an official announcement and PR campaign.

Maybe big oil companies don't want NG as competition. I'm sure that NG would wreck oil prices if enough autos started using it. There's probably much going on behind the scene with market manipulation we'll never know about. NG could hurt a lot of big dog's feelings!
I mean it's a no brainer that NG could replace imports but we aren't seeing any action at all to make it happen. Windmills and solar panels are only novelties. It's like the politicians are merely putting on a pony show for the citizens and aren't really serious. There has to be a reason why that is. They aren't stupid when it comes to putting money into their own pockets. They could fix our energy import problem if they really wanted too.
