Catfish. The north Caddo Parish answer is ......... yes ......and no. I don't think Petrohawk would be applying for this unit if they didn't plan to explore in the relatively near future. So yes, be excited. But not too excited just yet. The Sibley Field may be near the eastern edge of the Shale. As north Caddo (Longwood, Caddo Pine Island Rock Point fields) is near the northern edge of the Shale. As much as everyone wants a HS well in their section, it is advisable to hold back some of that enthusiasm until the first wells are completed. North Caddo finally got their wells. And the disappointing results have had a negative but hopefully temporary effect. As much as I would like everyone of our members to have their own HS well, I would rather them also have a capable operator (Petrohawk - check) with the technical know how to complete the wells in a specific area to the benefit of the operator and the land/mineral owners. Section 32 of 17N - 9W may very well be where Petrohawk learns how to drill successfully in the Sibley Field area. The question is, do you want Petrohawk "practicing" in your section? Or would you rather let some other section receive the honor and have Petrohawk come drill your wells after they have mastered the learning curve?

This new map at http://www.oilshalegas.com/haynesvilleshale.html show a larger area then we are all used to seeing. It includes all the original players plus Bienville, Lincoln, Jackson, Caldwell, Natchitouches, Sabine, and parts of other Parishes. I think, before this is all over, they will find this site is larger than we all think. You will notice there are already wells way over towards the East in North Louisiana. Might be a good Idea to buy some property in some of those Parishes before the word gets out too much and the land gets too high.

This is not my section, I agree the drill bit will tell the tale. I did see a map showing a Haynesville penetration in 18/8. I have no idea what section it was in or if it's even relevant.

Not to throw cold water but that map is fairly old as was put out by the dnr. I would spectulate based on it.

Catfish. I agree on the map. And it is a good idea to keep in mind that the Haynesville formation/zone runs in a convex arc from the Gulf coast of Mississippi to the middle of Texas. I wish it was all shale but it ain't. The vast percentage is sand. And it appears that only a relatively small portion of it (NW. LA.) is shale

Also, Petrohawk has filed for another unit in Webster Parish for the Elm Grove Field.

Les. It looks like WSF (Petrohawk subsidiary) is getting out of the CV development business and into the shale. This is their second HA unit application.
