Skip Peel,

I have land in sections 15 & 54, T 10 R 8 in Powhatten. That is in the Northwest corner of that Township and Range. I can throw a rock into 11-8. I have not been leased yet, but it seems everybody around me has been leased. Ive heard the Messenger well is a pretty good well, considering its a vertical, which is 4 or 5 miles southwest of my land. I know its pretty slow going on leasing these days, but I was wondering what your opinion was on the area. What are your thoughts of this area? If you dont have any idea, no big deal, but you sure have been a huge help on the site. We appreciate you. Thanks
bigball. The King Hill Field and the Rebecca Messenger well appear to have very productive Haynesville shale. The challenge this far south in the play is the depth and temperature. I would expect development activity to move slowly in this area as long as natural gas spot prices are below $6. The current economics favor development of the core and tend to slow development on the outer periphery. It will be expensive to deal with the challenges inherent on this deep south side of the play but when the price is right, one or more operators will figure out the correct completion profile. Those with a little patience should get some good lease offers when that time comes. Those that do not will get the opportunity to sign for lower offers if they are willing to give lease terms of 4 to 5 years.
Skip, I think 2009 drilling is focused on science and holding acreage rather than true reserve development activity. EnCana essentially confirmed that point in their conference call this week. This is also the reason you are seeing both Petrohawk & Chesapeake extending their activity into East Texas.
thanks skip, awesome stuff.
Skip is this it? or is what shown just what has been applied for? Our family property is in 12-10-12, Golddonna area. They completed the seismic studies in December. We were told by the seismic company (which we already knew from earlier years) that there was oil and gas present but were looking for depth and accessibility. Is there anyway to find out what they found or who ordered the study? Thanks.
Marilynn. Yes, this is it. For April 27, 2009. The area prospective for the Haynesville Shale will not be determined for a number of years. What the grid represents is the number of sections with Haynesville drilling and production units in each township. It will probably be a number of years before the HS play moves far enough east to determine whether Goldonna is a productive area. There is a tremendous number of acres closer to the recognized core of the play that will be drilled before then. And the oil and gas that you have been told is "present" may not be HS. It may be some other formation. I am unaware of "anyway to find out what they found" or "who ordered the study" as that is proprietary information.
Thanks Skip for the information. It probably is not part of HS but another. I cannot remember exactly what the seismic company said but this area was offering more than HS. He said that the company although he did not tell me who it was knew already what was there. He said they needed to see the best way to get to it. All of the original tests were done by Placid Oil years ago. So we already had that information. We were told then that it was too deep with the technology that was available at this time. The only other info that we were told by this seismic company was that with the tech they have today they could now get to it. But of course the HS was in motion and being concentrated on. Again many thanks for your information.
Mrs. Marilynn, I have yet to work a play that didn't have stories like yours. Seems that every SZ crew has a good or great story to tell. I have never heard of one that said you ain't got crap under your land.
i have searched and searched SONRIS for information regarding the 28 orders/applications on 15/9 just west of Ringgold?. I can't seem to find any information. could someone please provide a link, so that i can see "who" has applied for orders/applications in that region?
i am curious about the 28 orders/applications in that area.

thanks

Gosh Darn,

You and Les should come visit us some time. Haven't you heard the new gold rush is in LA not L.A.
Parker, I was actually in Louisiana for a day last week but down near Lake Charles. I had a couple of people down there ask me if I had heard of the Haynesville Shale. Just shows how word is getting around.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
