You talking about the Microsoft statement? They already were in Ireland, they used that affiliate for production after the technology was developed here. They're not threatening anything new.
Mmmarkkk - (This is so far down now it may get confusing, but I'm referring to your response to me one page back.) The statement said, "develops the product ... then transfers the technology... " I'm still confused, doesn't sound like an accounting move to me. It further states it "assigns its foreign sales to the Irish subsidiary..." So, the people related sales costs must be in another country is the way I understand it. Correct me if I'm wrong because I sure do want to see more jobs on US soil.

best - :0)
Perhaps this has been posted before, but it is instructive... as you know, it is customary for the outgoing president to leave on the Oval office desk a letter for the new president. While we do not know what Bush may have written to Obama, someone suggested this is what should have been there:

In a large envelope bearing the presidential seal, there was the expected note with three other envelopes, one dated Inauguration Day, one April 15, 2009, and the last dated Thanksgiving, 2009. At the end of the note were the instructions, "Barack, please open these on the dates provided, GWB" President Obama looks at the envelopes and decides to open them all now.

The first one, Inauguration Day, says simply, "Blame it all on me."
The second one dated April 15 says, Blame it all on me".
And the last one dated Thanksgiving says, "Time for you to find another envelope".

At some point, the credit or blame must begin to go to the current administration. For someone who claims to want to make us energy independent, who desires to create jobs, etc., it would seem to be a natural fit to encourage NG and nuclear, while at the same time attempting to wean us away from the tens of billions of dollars we send to OPEC, etc. for oil.

Last summer, admittedly when NG was artificially high at $13, the following was put together to give the impact of the lost royalties the government is not receiving. Royalty income of $2,576,000,000,000. That is 2 trillion, 576 billion dollars... And this is with a royalty percentage of 15.7%, not 25%. And it does not include oil shale. I could understand ignoring these numbers if we were energy self-sufficient, not in debt in the trillions of dollars, etc., but to not act and bring jobs, revenue, etc., now is mind boggling. Obama and Congress, or any president and Congress for that matter, would be seen as heroes if they simply enacted something like this at a time like now.

Anyone ever wonder who's side Obama is really on?
I'm more convienced every day that Obama is not working in the best interest of the American people.
Duh! He's a freaking socialist. He told us this during the election but too many folks were too dense to realize it. Again, huge percentage of US voters pay no taxes and get handouts. Someone comes along and promises to give you more and make others pay for it! BINGO! they'll vote for that guy!!! Then there are the great folks who aren't even citizens. Oh, no, can't ask them to show a photo ID to prove who they are...that would be racist!! But as a black man, you can stand in front of a polling station with weapons, and knock around a billy club in full military gear, but that's not intimidation...not now especially because the Prez is black and the AG is black. yeah, nothing to see here folks...just move along whitey...nothing here!

Really funny! Now lets nominate someone for the Supreme Court. Qualifications: submitted 5 cases as an appellate judge to the Supreme Court...over ruled 3 times!! 60% failure rate. But that's ok cuz she's a she and she's Latina. Her only qualifications that matter to this dude! Oh well. You folks brought this on us. We survived Jimmy Freakin Carter and LBJ so we'll survive this fool.
I hope Obama doesn't get addicted to this, "If a company becomes broken, the government gets to control it" idea!
He might just try to break them on purpose, huh?
