Chesapeake has changed their accounting system and so the check detail has changed.  According to their letter "the information previously provided on the check detail sill still be shown".  However the only owner total on the statement is for the amount of the check.  No longer are the totals for Gross, Tax, Fuel, Gathering, etc.  I contacted Chesapeake and was told that several owners had complained and they would take it up with management.  The only way for to get totals other than the Net amount would be to add all of the deductions for myself to come up with a Gross.  Hello excel spreadsheet.

Yes, and what a pain to get a pdf into excel format. (in some cases) My online one  was not available on the most recent one, so html was not an option, and my version of Acrobat Pro would not do the conversion, so copy and paste, copy and paste. And the owner fractions - they have split mine in two pieces for some reason - aggregate total ends up equaling the previous, but why, and what are they doing? Then there is another extraneous fraction multiplier that I have never seen before - what the... ??

CHK has not posted the April check detail online on the OILDEX/PDS site. Is the the case for everyone?

Note - we ere paid for April, just no detail to review.

Looking at my mailed stub (again, none online, and had to request the emailed stub - used to be automatic) a little more thoroughly - I do not understand the production total they show for my well on this stub. This check would normally be for the Feb amount sold, and they are listing oil amounts for both Feb and Mar. But, the total bbls for both months on this stub is less than the RRC disposition total for both months by 28.3%. (partial month's sales for Mar ?) The stub sale total bbls is 63.9% greater than the RRC disposition total for just the month of Feb, so I know they are not aiming for that either. No comprende.

Ignoring all that and just trying to match their amount on the check using their sale volume bbls number and price - I can't do it by the old method of Volume x Price x Owner Fraction. Their total and my total is about 31% different. (even taking into account Tax, and NGLs and "Drip", and Gas. Calling them tomorrow.

Anybody else seeing the same things that I am seeing - the extra fraction multiplier, different sold volumes than on the RRC (completely out of range, not just a little difference) site, etc. ??

Jeff, your comment regarding "extra fraction multiplier" leads me to believe that you may be looking at an allocation well.  I don't have a copy of the new CHK royalty statements but I'll take a stab at what I think you are referring to with that comment.  You have a royalty decimal interest for production attributable to your unit.  That has been on your statement since day one.  When wells under a PSA (Production Sharing Agreement) are drilled through multiple units, another decimal interest is created to allocate the portion of the total well production that is sourced from your unit.  If a horizontal well is drilled through two adjacent units, each gets a share of production based on the percentage of perforated lateral in each unit.  So for example, .625 may be in one unit and .375 in the other.

Hey Skip - no CUL yet, still the original non-shared lease - just CHK on one lease, one well. Sounded like a good try though!

I have tried looking at this pay stub from a number of different angles, and have figured out how they are getting their numbers using their own "math" (their numbers and multipliers) - I just have no idea where the multipliers are coming from, and therefore what the meaning is of their actions. I do know that it does not match what they were doing on the previous month's check detail.

Thanks!

Jeff

Do you have a unit survey plat?

A few different versions - haha - proposals that went by the wayside. Yes, I have the permitted plat.

Skip I sent ya a text about emailing you a copy of some of my properties shown in the new CHK April royalty statements, always easier when you can see things for yourself.

I did notice when doing a quick spread sheet entry of my 10+ CHK properties, only 4 didn’t have SLIGHTLY smaller decimal numbers from previous months, not sure what’s the cause/reason for this.

MB did you check the database to see if CHK has submitted amended unit surveys for those properties with the smaller decimal fractions?

Negative Skip, being a luddite w/ SONRIS I’ll *attempt* it in the next few days.

It's easy.  Let me know if you need any help.

Yes we are unable to view any information online for the April check from Chesapeake.  I got an email early in the month stating that the owner numbers were changing and the check detail.  Since they haven't sent anything saying what the new owner number is I'm not sure how to get access to the data.  We were paid also but we have direct deposit.
