The recently reported "cost per foot" probably needs to have an asterisk (i.e., for most recent Robertson and Leon County wells).

This Freestone County well will be a different story as to costs - assuming they get it successfully drilled and completed / frac'd

I'm very interested to see how this well goes!  18,000ft TVD is getting extreme for onshore horizontal wells.

Comstock has already drilled at least five Western Haynesville wells that reached TVDs deeper than 18,000 feet, all in Leon County.

I will be  following this well and it's progress . Our family owned MI's are just South of Oakwood and leased to Comstock. I know  our MI's there were leased speculatively in 2014 and a  well was drilled nearby, but abandoned.  I recall they were looking for a far eastern extension of the Eagle Ford  type formations. We inherited this a few years later and I never had any real information, so I am just watching this deeper well and  hoping for success, I worked in the drilling business overseas for 40 year and have managed / advised family  our mostly Barnett Shale small interests for a while. I get  offers  to buy them for $5-6K per acre but family has old values and won't sell. Any insight on later progress will be greatly appreciated, and I will reciprocate.

Dave, do you remember the well name of the 2104 Comstock well south of Oakwood? I am curious to see if I can find the log and see more info on this well. Thanks

Rockman, I never knew that well name.  I did not get involved in my wife's family MI's until  I retired in 2017, after her mother passed. I do  have the 2-3 page lease copy she had and when it expired in 2017 I contacted them and they were not interested in  extending the lease. . I see now that you may have figured it out in messages below. I can give you the contact I  discussed this with if you want it, even a copy of the lease. Let me know if you want it. - Dave

The Olajuwon well is Comstock's first ever permit in Freestone County, so the 2014 well must have been somebody else.  Also, Comstock's earliest permit in Leon County was in 2022.

Here are all the wells I could find close to the Olajuwon well around Oakwood.  The black dots are plugged and abandoned wells.  Is there any chance you know which of these is the well you are referencing?  That might help Rock Man see if he can find a log for it.
