Anyone local to the Avoyelles area hearing anything about the Eagles Ranch Well? It appears that they recently finished drilling well and should be moving frac crews on location soon.

Just received notice for 3-D seismic from EOG / Sentry energy services

I has a conversation with a gentlemen who worked on a well in Texas where the operator was drilling in the chalk just above the Eagleford shale. The theory was that this section of chalk could be having oil seep up from the Eagleford as the source rock. So rather than target the Eagleford they thought the chalk would provide better flow properties and still get the same oil. He said they were very pleased with the initial production results.

Now I wonder if this is being thought of in this area of Louisiana with the Tuscaloosa being the source rock flowing into the chalk. Any thoughts?

Jay, isn't that what I said?

What I'm wondering is are thinking the source rock in each respective chalk area has certain sweet spots that allow better communication between the two layers where they can target shale oil without shale's lesser flow properties.

I actually read just some stuff right after a posted this that kind of goes that direction.

Jay - How can one find the one inch induction log ?

Thanks

Thanks so much

Any news on this well? Is it still producing? I hear EOG is conducing 3D Seismic surveys in the area.

Here's the 3D seismic map. (2 pages) Note outlined areas.

270 Square miles. That's a ton of serious 3D $$. I don't think EOG is doing this just to pass the time.

My family OGML was signed with Sentry Energy and now that they have moved on and EOG has taken control of this well does this mean EOG will pay the royalties to those who signed their agreement with Sentry?  How do I find out and when should they expect the first royalty payment?  Thank you for your response.

Expect royalty payments to begin 90 to 120 days after the well is turned to sales.  The first check will be from first production so it will include multiple months and those months are generally some of the highest production rates.  The well will generally decline in production from there and checks will get smaller over time however if it is a good well EOG may drill additional wells in a unit that includes your minerals.  There is no way to tell for sure which company will make your royalty payments ahead of time but my guess would be EOG.  As Jay points out, 90 to 120 days of production will give a better understanding of how good the well is.  Good luck.

As always, I am grateful for your thorough response.

You're welcome, Cindy.
