Can anyone enlighten me about the Hezikiah Cartwright Survey, where the Hezekiah

#1 well is located? Are there TWO H. Cartwright surveys in San Augustine County, one near

Sabine county, the other nearer Nacogdockes county? My father bought minerals (I have the deed) in l940's in a survey by that name. The well seems to be near Sabine, but the

map shows the H. Cartwright Survey nearer Nacogdoches co. No one has ever approached me about leasing in this quite small survey. Anyone know anything

Luckyduck, the Cartwright survey (A-83), where the Hezekiah #1H is located, is in north Sabine County.  I've attached a photo so you can see where.

You might want to join the county group where your minerals are located.

Thank you iffree. I see it. But there is also a Hezikiah Cartwright survey in San Augustine County near the Thomas Cartwright Survey. I am writing from far away, by the way, not having lived there

for many years. Just wondering why there are two?

Multiple surveys have the same names, but different Abstract #'s

Land grants were made for various reasons... to encourage settlement and reward military service, to name a couple.  You can research Texas land grants on the GLO website.  It's pretty interesting because they have scanned the historical documents concerning the grants.

If you have the time to do a little digging, you may find the answer to your question.

is your deed recorded? this is not as "dumb" a question, as it appears!
Yes, the deed has the seal etc so it was recorded. But it is in San Augustine County, not Sabine.
consult an oil and gas attornet-----soon!

Not sure I was clear. the Hezikiah Survey in which my father bought minerals in l940's

is itself in San Augustine County. Whereas, apparently the Hezihiah #I well is in

ANOTHER Hezikiah Cartwright Survey in Sabine County --- at least that's what I

now understand. Odd that there are two with the same name, I think. There deed

for my father's transaction is recorded in San Augustine County, as os proper. Thanks Robert Minton for advice.

Unless I am wrong about there being two surveys by that name. Anyway, thank you for response --- I stay flummoxed about a lot of this since I live bask east,
