to spud soon in Jefferson County exploring Haynesville Shale.

Not sure why you say "that is unfortunate"?

The many replies just shows an interest in Mainland's project. There are some skeptics, but we'll just have to wait and see. I for one think Mainland is on to something... The question: can they pull it off?

What does this indicate as far as well success to other posters.

It means nothing..... just PR spin.
William, the CEO's statement regarded their potential plans for the well - not what is occurring currently.  The well is still drilling so to early to evaluate any results.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
