What do the various well status codes mean on the SONRIS site? In particular, code 05. Also, how do you tell what formation a well is in?

Thanks for the reply Earl/Earlene. You're right, there isn't a status code 05. I'm inquiring about well #238542. They just rigged down a week or so ago. The last posted depth was 10128'. I'm antsy to find out how well this well's gonna be!

Pam

P.S. Pretty wolf!
Kinda looks like Earl, huh? Earl must be gorgeous! I used to have Norweigan Elkhounds. They were gorgeous. Viking dogs.

Anyway, just my luck! Any chance Camterra did complete the well and the SONRIS page is just not updated yet?
Thanks for the tip about the scout report. It shows the same info. I guess I'll just have to be patient!
Pam:

You may be referring to Scout Report codes. This is what comes in on a weekly basis as to the field progress on the well. It is also in the Codes/Lookups Section.

Scout Code 05 refers to a permitted well that is actively being worked (drilled), according to "Plan A", so to speak. When things gets bogged down downhole (pipe stuck, downhole obstacles, etc.), "Plan B" is typically a sidetrack of an existing wellbore. This is usually reported under Scout Code 04.

A couple of the codes are the same as general status codes (10 for producing well, 29 for dry hole, 33 for shut-in productive 'future utility', etc.), but the scouts predominantly have their own codes, as well as extensive shorthand. The listing of accepted codes and other abbrieviations is located here:

Hope this helps.
Dion, thanks for the reply. That being a scout code makes sense as they just finished drilling. I'm inquiring about well #238542. Can you tell if that's a Haynesville well? Thanks for your input!

Pam
SONRIS shows that they just set pipe down to 10,128'. The pipe is only 4 1/2", not big enough to go vertical, also they did not reach their permitted depth. The permit was for a non-unitized HA.
Thanks Baron. I'm sorry, but what does a non-unitized HA mean? Why the little pipe, and why do you think they rigged down before reaching their permitted depth?
IT could be that they are trying to hold some leases. non-unitized just means that they were seeking to drill to and complete a well in the HA, but no unit exists. It is possible that they have applied for a unit, but have not had one approved yet.
Well, I know they have applied, and I thought the hearing for that has already taken place. We had originally leased for the Cotton Valley, Hosston and Glen Rose, I think, then they applied to include HA. I thought that was approved. I guess I better go pull out all those letters I have filed away.
